Credentials
I have been a Massachusetts Justice of the Peace for five years. I love what I do and especially enjoy helping couples celebrate the love they have for each other.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts takes precautions to make sure that the individuals that they bestow a commission on is worthy of the honor, and I do consider it an honor. I have to explain to the state why I want to become a justice, provide character references and pass a background check. When my commission is about to expire I have to prove myself to the state all over again. And I am happy to do so.
So when the news came out that a man has been marrying couples without the authority to do so I was so angry. His dishonesty has affected so many good people who deserved better than what they received and has made it harder for other couples to trust the officiants they meet with. Hopefully he will pay for what he has done and the couples can get the justice they deserve.
In order to assure everyone who visits my website that I am indeed a commissioned justice and minister through the Universal Life Church, I am happy to provide a copy of my credentials. I carry these with me all the time and have no problem showing them to couples considering hiring me to marry them. I'm sure that whoever you meet with will be happy to show you their credentials as well.
Don't feel uncomfortable about asking. I'm sure that whoever you meet with will be happy to show you their credentials as well.
